The Ninth Annual BOCO Traditional Music Festival will be held in Downtown Washington on April 29 rain or shine. This Free festival runs 10:00 AM-9:00 PM and is co-sponsored by the Beaufort County Traditional Music Association and the Arts of the Pamlico. The event is FREE. The evening performance begins at 7:00 on the Turnage Main Stage and features “Bad Ridge Bluegrass Band”. Regional and local bands will be performing in the Turnage Theatre Gallery all day. Throughout the day, music will also be provided by the Beaufort County Traditional Music Association members and invited musicians. There are two music venues to enjoy during the day: the Turnage Theatre Gallery, 150 W. Main Street, and the Main Street Outdoor Jam, across the street from the Theatre. Interested musicians are invited to bring their instruments and join the jams.
Performances in the Turnage Gallery include many popular regional bands and individuals. These include: The Flatland Zingers; Dave Reynolds; Tanglewood; Dustin, Sara,& Lane Hollis and John Booker; Lonesome Creek Band; Bob Daw; Now & Then; and Still Water. There is also a special showcase for young musicians Marye Amanda McDaniel, Sydney Moore, and Will Stovall.
On April 29, Downtown Washington will be full of the sounds of Traditional music. Come enjoy Bluegrass, Country and Blues, Ole Time music, Folk songs, and a special guitar pull for original songs and some fine picking.
